NEWS From Corky

Coming back for more!

Early 1990's Southern rock and rollers, Allgood, are pleased to announce that they are playing two shows this summer.

The dates and venues are as follows:

July 30
The Loft
1032 Broadway Avenue
Columbus, GA 31901
(706) 322-7832

July 31
Bragg Jam / Cox Capitol Theatre
382 2nd Street
Macon, GA 31201-2736
(478) 257-6391

We're drawing from all eras (Mesozoic, Big Band, Sherwin Williams) of our music to put together the set lists for these gigs. We even found a cover of a tune so rarely played we didn't remember playing it. But there it is - irrefutably on tape. The performance we found was from a Burlington VT show and was so tasty that we added it to the set.

The lineup for this micro-tour is Clay Fuller (Guitar), Mike Sain (Bass) and Corky Jones (Vocals) plus Neal Lucas (Guitar), Patrick Smith (Keys) and Noel Felty (Drums).

Noel kept us rockin' steady for the 2006 and 2008 shows and is back on the skins. We are pleased to have Noel back in action after his stint in Burma as a laundry operator/drum major.

Neal is the real deal! Feal Neal! Have a meal with Neal! We are totally stoked to have Neal and his blazing guitar join us for these shows. He rocks. You will love Neal. Neal will love you back.

Patrick Smith and his keys add a new dimension (dementia?) to the Allgood sound. You may wonder why he hasn't been playing with us forever. We don't really have a good answer to that. Come get some.

Check these three guys out on youtube, myspace, yourspace, me-arse, the internets, etc.

We've been rehearsing tirelessly in Athens, Columbus and our chateau in San Sebastian.

We are really looking forward to playing these shows and are hoping to catch up with all of you there.

Oct 7 Show Review

What a trip down to Atlanta. First getting a $55 round trip flight was sweet. Going to the Georgia Tech football game was sweet. Tim and I drove over to Athens and got there around 10pm. We got to the Georgia Theater and the place was packed because of the Georgia vs. Tennessee football game. As we were trying to stay away from trouble, stuff happens with a bunch of drunk football fans. As I walked away to get a beer, I find that Tim got dowsed with a beer. The bouncers quickly took care of the trouble. Then there was some guy ranting in front of us about real men and the days when Hershell Walker played down there. Not sure what he was saying but he was spitting all over us. Say it, don't spray it.

Anyway, the Bulldogs lost and a lot of people headed out with about 5 minutes left in the game. Game was over and the theater cleared out completely to clean up and then let people back in that had tickets.

At midnight the band starts. They did a little jam to start off. Sounded like Mornin' Dew. Then they went into the Train Song and the night took off from there. I don't recall the entire setlist, but it was different than the April show, which was good. Additional songs were Cork's Baby, A Song, Time is Gonna Bring Us a Change. There's was also a whole bunch of jams. It seemed like there was a new song put in that Corky announced was written by John Felty. It was a jam, perhaps something they came up with during practice and corky put some words to it.

The entire night, the band was having a blast on stage. It was clear that they were having a great time. The band was very relaxed and the sound was great. Clay was totally jamming and John Felty felt like he was playing with the band all along. Mikes fingers were definitely on fire. Was that a new 5 string bass we saw? And Clay got rid of the Marshall stack and went with the Gibson Goldtone? Whatever amp, it sure did sound sweet. Personally, I think the band was tighter and looser at the same time. All that were in attendance were having fun too. At 2am the band stopped and did a Funky House encore before Corky encouraged the crowd to give it up because they don't know when they'll see us again. When will they see us again? Only they know, but I hope we do see them again.

So thanks to Clay, Corky, Mike, John and Noel. You guys provided a lot of people a lot of joy with your music. And you couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of guys to shake your hand and give you a minute to talk to before and after the gig. And thanks to all the great fans. It was a joy talking and jamming with y'all. Life really is all good.

If anyone knows the setlist that would be great to post. And sadly, no one did record the show before anyone asks.

Just wanted to report that we have just finished our super secret practice weekend and it was really terrific. The band sounds HUGE and we had a ball playing again after the April shows.

We will be playing directly following the UGA/UT game which willbe shown on the movie screen at the Georgia Theatre before the show.

Not sure if this is our last gig, but we haven't planned on another one. Hope to see everyone there. We're STOKED!!!
